The Augustinians were the first to arrive at the Marikina valley in 1500, at the spot known as "chorillo" in Barangka. Next came the Jesuits in 1630, in a place now called Jesus dela Peña (Jesus of the Rocks). Here, the Jesuits established a mission and built a chapel. In 1687, this pueblo became a parish known as Mariquina. In 1901, with the coming of the Americans, its name officially became Marikina. The early settlers lived along the riverbanks and nearby fertile farms. With the industry of the natives, combined with the know-how of the early Chinese settlers, the farms began to produce rice and vegetables in great quantities until the valley became part of the country's most prized hacienda. ©http://www.marikina.gov.ph/#about

Many churches can be found here in Marikina City. But, Our Lady of the Abandoned church's my favourite.
Next to it, is the first ever shoe house in the city but later turned to be a cafe.
At the front part of this cafe is the shoe museum of Marikina City where you can see on the floor of the street going to the building is the names of the persons who firstly handmade shoes.
Walking miles at the side of this establisment is the Marikina River Park where sunsets are astonishingly good to be seen.

Christmas is the time of giving and forgiving. We shouldn't let ourselves feel that we are being left behind by those close people in our life. In fact, we should feel that we are receiving so much of love from them so that we won't have negative vibes in our self.
